Both are large machines with flat beds that we use to cut with.
Our laser leaves a sheen on the edge while the CNC router leaves an opaque finish.
The laser has a 1200mm x 700mm bed, and the CNC router has a bed size of 4000mm x 1500mm.
A laser uses a light beam to cut and has narrower margins than the CNC router, of which has a 5mm bit as a minimum size to cut with. The CNC cuts through 20-30mm acrylic far easier than a laser.
A laser cuts sharp external and internal corners.
Yes, we do. Please note that colour variances can occur between orders depending on dye lot batches and suppliers. View our colour chart here.
No, it can not.
They are different for a few reasons, with both having their own benefits.
Polycarbonate is stronger, and for the most part fairly unbreakable, yet has more flex and scratches easier. You can buff scratches out of acrylic but can’t out of polycarbonate.
Acrylic has more variety in colour and thickness.
It is possible with recommended techniques, however it is dependent on skill and ability.
We can however supply a small piece of material with your order to practice on along with a tip sheet. Polycarbonate is often reported to be easier for the home user to work with.
We are not glaziers so can not outright answer this, however we believe depending on the size, thickness and finish this can vary either way.
We can say it’s easier to work with.
Much lighter and approximately 17 times stronger.
Transparent acrylic is see-through.
Only use Opaque/solid colours or you will see the adhesive, or the ripples from the adhesive.
Do NOT use transparent or translucent colours.
Email us on cts@showcaseplastics.com.au and enter in the subject field: ETA of current order. We cannot promise but we will do our best depending on availability of stock, our workload, factory hours and time of order.
We don’t cut materials you have bought elsewhere, as we don’t know the material quality, there is no way of knowing if it’s a non-stable acrylic.
